WOW. We had a great experience here. This was something different. This was BY FAR our favorite spot on our trip to Ischia! We had accidentally found this restaurant, thanks to google maps, reading the positive reviews and have tried to see the „old Italien school“ restaurant. Entrance is a little difficult to find, one must ring at to enter. Accidentally, we got a table without reservation and so many great things to say! The food was absolutely delicious and so very fresh. The staff were so kind and welcoming. We loved the atmosphere with live music and overall location. Stunning view from above we had. Highly recommended.

Went jul24. don’t take online, WhatsApp or email booking - by phone only. Don’t speak English, so booking is hard for some of us. Restaurant not sign posted, just a door bell. There is a car park but it only takes cash and Italian only instructions . An Italian friend booked over the phone for us, but when we got there, there was no sign of our booking. Kindly they managed to squeeze us in. This is an extremely local , old school restaurant- one of only a handful on the island . They produce their own red wine, but I’m afraid it wasn’t to my taste. We were served the mixed starters before sitting down and before being shown any menu. The starters consisted of four or five mixed courses including mussels and tomato sauce, pizza, bread and mozzarella with tomatoes. we were presented a menu for the main course and I ordered pasta with a fillet steak. However a sirloin steak arrived which was a lower price point on the menu, however they still charged the price of the fillet steak. Steak was under-seasoned - tried asking for salt and pepper a few times but it didn’t arrive, so steak went uneaten. In summary a fantastically beautiful and local restaurant though quite challenging for non-Italian speakers.

A great experience with amazing food and friendly staff. A true hidden gem. Worth the drive up the hill. Keep an eye out for the gate though, there is a big car park opposite.

The restaurant is situated at a very nice and different location with views from the island's mountains. The menu is fixed with a limited amount of choices, but is designed in order to have them all work together extremely well. All of the dishes we got to try were very good and all of the portion sizes were abundant. We received various appetizers, some bottles of water, pasta, risotto, meat, sausages, and three different desserts and ended up paying a stunning low bill of 60€ for 2 people. The staff was very friendly and service was extremely fast and efficient.

An authentic experience. Any tourist who doesn't understand that old school Italian authenticity should probably stay away. No compromises here. They do what they do and do it well.

The food was excellent! The mushroom risotto was the best dish we have had in our vacation. The music and vibes were amazing. We really enjoyed our dinner there. They got us three appetizers, and we got to choose the main dishes and the dessert from a set menu. If you want to try authentic italian dishes, this is the place that you should visit!

An unforgettable experience. Alberto's is almost impossible to find or access without a local guide. As others have mentioned you need to be buzzed through the front door (which is unmarked). From the street the restaurant appears closed, almost derelict. However, once you enter you are treated to an utterly enchanting experience consisting of a fabulously intimate environment paired with delicious local food served home-style. Plate after plate simply showed up at our table, courses of risotto, pasta, rabbit, cauliflower croquettes, sausages. We ate outside under the vines with garlic and onions hanging to dry above our heads. There were no gimmicks, just great food in a delightful setting. Ensure you take a moment to peruse the enormous quantity of photographs inside detailing the history of the building and restaurant. In summation: easily the best meal I've had this year and potentially in my life, with a price that was so low we thought the bill was per-person instead of for our group of six.

La Vigna Di Alberto, tucked away on Via Giuseppe Garibaldi in Barano d'Ischia, is a true sanctuary for lovers of authentic Italian cuisine. This rustic restaurant embraces the spirit of traditional Italian dining with an emphasis on local flavors and a warm, inviting atmosphere. Visitors are greeted by a discreet entrance — a doorbell beckons you into a world where food is crafted with care and rooted deeply in Ischian heritage.

The menu is a curated journey through the island’s culinary treasures, featuring standout dishes like Zucchine Alla Scapece, offering a tangy, vibrant start, and Cozze that capture the essence of fresh seafood from the surrounding Mediterranean. Pasta lovers will be enchanted by the likes of Orecchiette Broccoli E Ricotta and Pasta Patate E Provola, where each dish melds simple ingredients into unforgettable comfort food. The Coniglio All’ischitana is a hearty, slow-cooked rabbit dish reflecting the island’s rustic traditions, while the Grigliata Mista serves a robust selection of grilled meats, skillfully charred over open flames.

The risottos deserve special mention — the Salmon Risotto and Mushroom Risotto balance creaminess and depth with precision. The use of local cheeses like smoked bufala and provola adds distinctive smokiness and richness that elevate each plate. Appetizers such as Panzerotto Ricotta E Salame and Mozzarella Ricotta E Salame In Carrozza demonstrate playful reinterpretations of Italian classics, offering a harmony of textures and flavors that linger long after the first bite.

What’s remarkable about La Vigna Di Alberto is its ability to maintain an “old Italian school” charm — it feels like stepping into a time capsule where hospitality is heartfelt and food is a celebration of place and season. The live music and stunning views from the hilltop location intensify the overall experience, creating moments of joyful sharing and discovery.

While the restaurant operates with an old-world approach — from the phone-only booking system to minimal English spoken — this only enhances its authenticity and local character. The staff’s genuine kindness and dedication shine through, ensuring diners feel welcomed despite any language barriers. La Vigna Di Alberto is more than just a meal; it’s a culturally immersive and sensory adventure through Ischia’s rich culinary landscape, leaving a lasting impression with every dish served.
